COCHLEAR IMPLANT WAIT REQUIRES ACTION:
January 2003

URGENT MATTER - PLEASE HELP!

It has come to our attention that there is an 18-month wait for children’s cochlear implant surgery in British Columbia.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

Please take time to write a letter regarding this issue. As parents of children with hearing loss, we know first hand the importance of timely intervention.

These are some of the letters written by our executive and individual members of CHHA-BC Parents' Branch to lobby the provincial government regarding cochlear implants. We have also written letters in the past to participate in Core Reviews of Services by the various Ministries, to lobby for increased funding of hearing aids for children in B.C., and various other issues on behalf of hard of hearing children. We encourage you to write your own letters, as the voice of parents can be very influential!

SAMPLE LETTERS:
Cochlear Implants – a comparison of 3 provinces in Canada (113K)
Letter from CHHA – B.C. Parents’ Branch (80K)
Letter from mother Donna Chisholm (84K)
Letter from father Alan Franey (65K)
Letter from parents Janet and Corney Les (63K)

Please write:

THANK YOU from deaf children and their families!
